☀️ Summer is underway, we’re just over three months from the start of the 2026 NFL season, and yesterday alone brought crazy news to catch up on.
🍿 Myles Garrett, A.J. Brown trades
The Rams pulled off yet another blockbuster for a veteran, acquiring star EDGE Myles Garrett from the Browns for EDGE Jared Verse, a first-round pick, a second-rounder, and a third.
Garrett just set the single-season sack record with 23.0 sacks for Cleveland, and he has 125.5 career sacks since going No. 1 overall in 2017.
Los Angeles added two All-Pros to the defense this offseason, with Garrett joining CB Trent McDuffie, who was acquired from the Chiefs.
Less than an hour before the trade, Browns HC Todd Monken said at a charity golf tournament that he had no guarantee that Garrett would be on the team when he took the job.
It seems obvious that Garrett wasn’t thrilled with the team not giving the HC job to former DC Jim Schwartz, but his ploy for another massive new contract last offseason appeared to be mostly about money—with talk of wanting to play for one team his entire career now evaporated.
As had become expected in recent weeks, All-Pro WR A.J. Brown has officially been traded from the Eagles to the Patriots.
Brown was one of the most productive players in Eagles history during his time there, with 339 receptions for 5,034 yards and 32 touchdowns; three All-Pro nods; and a Super Bowl title—and two Big Game appearances, with a score in each game—in four seasons with the team.
A 2028 first-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick are headed back to Philadelphia in the deal.
AJB grew up a huge fan of Tom Brady and the Patriots, and now he’ll join the franchise.
It remains surprising that it’s come to this with Brown and the Eagles considering a) all their success together, and b) Brown and QB Jalen Hurts previously having been best friends; but the Patriots now gain an extremely talented WR as they look to build on their trip to the Super Bowl last season.

👀 One big-name out, another in
Super Bowl winning QB Russell Wilson is accepting a job with CBS Sports to join their headlining pregame show The NFL Today with James Brown, Bill Cowher, and Nate Burleson.
Wilson’s career with the Seahawks, Broncos, Steelers, and Giants included him winning a Super Bowl with Seattle, making 10 Pro Bowls, and being named the NFL Walter Payton Man of the Year.
Wilson helped the Seahawks get to back-to-back Super Bowls, with their repeat chances dashed by Malcolm Butler’s sensational last-second INT for the Patriots in Super Bowl XLIX—one of the greatest games in league history.
The former third-round pick was one of the biggest steals ever in the draft, immediately becoming, and sustaining play as, one of the best QBs in the league for 10 seasons—before, frankly, forcing his way out of Seattle led to worse situations that never fully worked out.
While Wilson played well in Pittsburgh two seasons ago, overall he was 104-53-1 with the Seahawks and 17-27 over his final four seasons.
Is this it? Wilson could land a backup QB job someplace right now if he wanted to, so resuming his great career would likely take a team calling the 37-year-old up about a starting role at some point. If not, we might have seen the end of a highly-accomplished, championship QBs career.
He’s back: WR Odell Beckham Jr. is reunited with the Giants, signing after a workout yesterday.
OBJ was a sensation to begin his career in New York, with 91/1,305/12, 96/1,450/13, and 101/1,367/10 campaigns from 2014-2016 before injury struck in his fourth season and he was ultimately sent to Cleveland in 2019.
Beckham was out of the league last season, but he actually showed serious juice during the Fanatics flag football event earlier this year.
HC John Harbaugh had Beckham for a season in Baltimore and is a fan, and he’ll be counting on the veteran WR to not only help on the field but to potentially share some lessons with fellow former LSU star Malik Nabers.
New York also signed WR JuJu Smith-Schuster and WR Braxton Berrios.

⚡️ Chargers extend Derwin James
All-Pro S Derwin James became the highest-paid player at his position for the second time in his career, signing a three-year, $75.6 million extension with the Chargers.
Chargers HC Jim Harbaugh previously called James “the best safety I’ve ever seen in the history of the National Football League.”
They’re paying the 29-year-old like it after another outstanding season, including three interceptions and two sacks.
James’ extreme versatility makes him a top-tier chess piece who might be the league’s best at covering TEs.
The Texans and WR Nico Collins agreed to an adjusted contract, giving him a pay bump over the next two seasons.
The 49ers revised QB Mac Jones’ contract, giving him a roster bonus after keeping him as Brock Purdy’s backup—with the lack of interest around the NFL surprising HC Kyle Shanahan.

🧀 Josh Jacobs’ status uncertain
Packers star RB Josh Jacobs was released from a Wisconsin jail on Wednesday without formally being charged for domestic violence.
The initial arrest happened last Tuesday following a weekend disturbance call, with Jacobs facing five potential charges.
The District Attorney's office announced that they weren't prepared to make a formal charging decision yet, stating they needed more time to investigate and gather evidence.
Through his legal team, Jacobs has vehemently denied the allegations.
Total uncertainty: There’s a lot we don’t know about this situation. From a football perspective, losing Jacobs would be a massive loss for the Packers. Behind him on the depth chart are Chris Brooks and 2024 third-rounder MarShawn Lloyd, who has struggled to stay healthy.

👀 Headlines from OTAs
Colts QB Daniel Jones is participating in OTAs while coming off a torn Achilles, looking well ahead of schedule.
