📰 Lions release Terrion Arnold

The Lions released CB Terrion Arnold, their first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, which was held in Detroit. This is a stunning story that continues to develop quickly.

  • Arnold is facing multiple felony charges in connection with a robbery and kidnapping in early February—which police say Arnold was the primary conspirator in.

  • The story started when Arnold and friends had over $250K of property stolen from an Airbnb he sometimes stayed at—and investigators believe Arnold led the plot to get their things back and/or get vengeance.

  • The former Alabama star’s eight felony charges can carry a maximum sentence of life in prison. His bond was set at $1 million; hours later, the Lions released him.

Lions HC Dan Campbell said in March that as far as he knows the situation isn’t a big deal and that he’ll trust what Arnold said. It’s fair to assume he and the Lions feel they were misled, so they went ahead and released him. Arnold was seen as a very high-character guy as a prospect, so this has been a shocker—and, if guilty, an obviously bad decision that he can hopefully come back from.

🚫 NFL shuts down Sorsby

The NFL has declined to hold a Supplemental Draft this summer, shutting down the hopes of former Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby entering the NFL this year.

  • In a leaked letter to Sorsby, the NFL wrote in response to Sorsby’s Petition for Special Eligibility that they have elected not to hold a Supplemental Draft in 2026, as is their right under the collective bargaining agreement.

  • Sorsby’s lawyer Jeffrey Kessler told ESPN that it is actually a violation of the CBA and the law.

  • The NFL’s letter mentioned how Sorsby gambled at three universities and that he has tried to litigate the situation with the NCAA rather than “accepting responsibility for your actions.”

What now? The CFL also says they won’t accept Sorsby, who is presumably left to train over the next several months and enter the 2027 NFL Draft—which is set to have a very crowded QB class that (paired with this situation) could push Sorsby down draft boards.

💰 TEs get paid

The Falcons signed star TE Kyle Pitts to a three-year, $54 million extension.

  • Pitts was franchise tagged by Atlanta earlier this offseason, but he instead gets a great three-year contract that makes him the third-highest paid TE in football.

  • The former No. 4 overall pick in the draft is still just 25 years old, so he’ll be 28 with a chance to cash in once again in a few years.

  • While Pitts has been criticized by many over the first five years of his career, he is one of three TEs in NFL history with 1,000 receiving yards as a rookie—and he’s coming off an 88/928/5 campaign that included an exceptional 11/166/3 TNF performance versus the Bucs late in the season.

Jaguars TE Brenton Strange was also extended, signing a three-year contract worth up to $48 million.

🏈 Sad news leads NFL updates

We’re sending our best to CJ2K. Former NFL star RB Chris Johnson revealed on Good Morning America that he’s been diagnosed with ALS at age 39.

The dates for the 2027 NFL Draft in Washington, D.C., are officially set for Thursday April 29 through Saturday May 1.

The sixth annual Tight End University took place last week, and it included 49ers All-Pro TE and a TEU leader George Kittle going through warmups in his return from a torn Achilles.

No. 100-90 for the NFL Top 100 Players of 2026 were revealed, including Panthers QB Bryce Young making the list.

Netflix released the trailer for the upcoming season of Quarterback coming July 14, featuring Jayden Daniels, Joe Flacco, Baker Mayfield, and Cam Ward.
