Chiefs find a way... again
Chiefs fans every week: 😄
Non-Chiefs fans waiting for them to lose a game: 🤦♂️
This week’s Wolf Sports Weekly starts with a quick thank you for supporting independent media.
Thank you to the 10,000+ of you that have signed up to get Wolf Sports Weekly. As you consider sticking with us instead of corporate sports media, we would like to give a quick glimpse at what makes us different. We stood alone on Josh Allen as a top-tier prospect in 2018, and we did the same with Bo Nix this year—two quarterbacks hammered with relentless criticism during the pre-draft process. We were higher on multiple star-level quarterbacks strongly doubted entering the league.
We also have a hit rate nearly 40% more accurate than NFL teams, being higher on future stars like A.J. Brown, Jonathan Taylor, and Antoine Winfield Jr., among others. Put simply, we think for ourselves and do not care about consensus groupthink, and it’s led to our insights being taken seriously by NFL teams and agencies. If you know anyone else who might be interested in getting NFL news and analysis from independent media, please consider sharing Wolf Sports Weekly.
🏈 Week 10: Chiefs remain unbeaten
The Chiefs improved to 9-0 after LB Leo Chenal blocked the Broncos’ 35-yard field goal attempt on the final play of the game. Denver sacked Patrick Mahomes four times, and rookie QB Bo Nix led what looked like the game-winning drive before the back-to-back defending champions found yet another way to win. After the game, Mahomes gave Nix (22/30, 215 yards, two touchdowns), who many felt outplayed the star quarterback, respect acknowledging they’ll be matching up a lot in the coming years: “It’s just the first one. We got a lot of these.”

To kick off last week on Thursday Night Football, the Ravens won another shootout over the Bengals, getting a stop on the two-point conversion attempt by Cincinnati (which appeared to have another missed facemask call) to secure a 35-34 victory. While Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase went for 264 yards and three touchdowns of Joe Burrow’s 428 yards and four scores, Baltimore was just as unstoppable with QB Lamar Jackson tossing four touchdowns. The defense of the Ravens is obviously an issue on the backend, but they were able to improve to 7-3 while Cincy dropped to 4-6 ahead of a matchup with the Chargers.
The Bengals go for two.. @Ravens get the stop!

Sunday Night Football was a wild one for different reasons, with Lions-Texans combining for seven interceptions (five by Jared Goff, though one was on a Hail Mary at the end of the half, and another might be changed to a strip sack fumble) in a 26-23 comeback win by Detroit on Jake Bates’ 52-yard walk-off field goal. The turning point in the game was probably Lions CB Carlton Davis’ interception in the end zone on a late and underthrown pass by Texans QB C.J. Stroud that would’ve been a touchdown to WR Tank Dell giving Houston a 30-13 lead.

The Steelers won an absolute thriller at Washington, 28-27, which was sealed by drawing Commanders rookie DT Johnny Newton offsides on a fourth-and-one. The Pittsburgh defense did an excellent job of containing QB Jayden Daniels (50% completion percentage, three carries for five yards). Russell Wilson threw three touchdowns, including on another insane catch by WR George Pickens and the game-winner to recent trade acquisition Mike Williams.

Other Week 10 results:
Panthers 20, Giants 17: Final U.S. morning game of the season (this one in Germany). Carolina has won back-to-back games, and QB Bryce Young had another solid outing and appears to be getting more confident since his return to the starting lineup.
49ers 23, Buccaneers 20: Superstar RB Christian McCaffrey made his season debut and looked like his usual self, handling 19 touches for 107 yards as the Niners won despite a few missed field goals in K Jake Moody’s return from IR—which caused WR Deebo Samuel to lose his cool on the sidelines—as Moody came through with the game-winner as time expired.
Bills 30, Colts 20: Josh Allen threw two interceptions while leading an offense with a depleted receiving group that also lost TE Dalton Kincaid (knee, briefly played through it), but he and RB James Cook each had 50+ yards and a score on the ground to help Buffalo improve to 8-2 ahead of hosting Kansas City this Sunday.
Patriots 19, Bears 3: There might not be a worse unit right now than Chicago’s offense, with the injured offensive line no longer holding up in front of rookie QB Caleb Williams, who was sacked nine times by New England. Bears HC Matt Eberflus says “changes will be made” to the offensive side but won’t yet share what those changes will be.
Saints 20, Falcons 17: WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling went off for three receptions, 109 yards, and two touchdowns to help the Saints get a win in interim HC Darren Rizzi’s first game. Atlanta racked up 468 yards of offense but was held to just 17 points.
Vikings 12, Jaguars 7: Minnesota became the first team since 2006 to win a game with zero touchdowns and three-plus turnovers, so there are some things to clean up despite sitting at 7-2.
Eagles 34, Cowboys 6: In his first career win at Dallas, Jalen Hurts totaled four touchdowns as the Eagles coasted while outgaining the Cowboys, 348-146. After not being able to see a potential touchdown catch because of the sun coming through the stadium, Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb says he’s “one thousand percent” in favor of curtains—and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was not happy with the questioning about the sun.
Cardinals 31, Jets 6: The good vibes for the Jets lasted about one half, with Arizona totally shutting down Aaron Rodgers and company while Cardinals QB Kyler Murray (22/24, 266 passing yards, three total touchdowns) played lights out on the other side for a red-hot squad.
Chargers 27, Titans 17: QB Will Levis held the ball and took seven sacks in his return to the lineup for the Titans, as the Chargers picked up their fifth victory of the year versus teams currently with three or fewer wins.
Dolphins 23, Rams 15: Miami got a much-needed win to get to 3-6, with the pass rush coming alive to sack Matthew Stafford four times while holding LA out of the end zone.

🔀 Trade deadline movement
Movement ahead of last Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline included big moves by the Steelers and Commanders. Here’s a rundown of what happened:
The Steelers traded for WR Mike Wiliams from the Jets for a 2025 fifth-round pick and LB Preston Smith from the Packers for a 2025 seventh-round pick.
The Commanders acquired four-time Pro Bowl CB Marshon Lattimore and a fifth-rounder from the Saints for a third-, fourth-, and sixth-rounder.
The Ravens added former All-Pro CB Tre’Davious White in a pick swap with the Rams.
The Cowboys traded a fourth-round pick for former Panthers second-round WR Jonathan Mingo and a seventh.
The Bengals acquired RB Khalil Herbert, sending a 2025 seventh-round pick to the Bears.
The 49ers traded a 2026 seventh to the Texans for DL Khalil Davis.
The trade deadline and roster shuffling brought more non-trade transactions:
The Bills brought back DT Jordan Phillips and DT Quinton Jefferson.
The Titans signed veteran S Mike Edwards, who was released by the Bills.
The Patriots claimed pass rusher Yannick Ngakoue after he was waived by the Ravens.
The Steelers are signing former All-Pro returner Jamal Agnew to the practice squad.
The Seahawks waived LB Tyrel Dodson yesterday.
🩼 Dak done for the year among injuries
Cowboys QB Dak Prescott’s hamstring injury from Week 9 is bad enough that it requires surgery, and he’s set to miss the rest of the season barring a stunning comeback to make the postseason for the 3-6 Cowboys. Prescott just signed a record-breaking four-year, $260 million contract before the season, and his year ends with 1,978 passing yards, 11 passing touchdowns, and eight interceptions in eight games.
Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence, who missed Week 10 due to a left shoulder injury, may also be in jeopardy of missing the rest of the year. Lawrence is dealing with a serious AC joint sprain, and former first-rounder Mac Jones will get a shot while Lawrence is out.
Buccaneers star OT Tristan Wirfs avoided a long-term knee injury, but he’ll miss a couple of weeks after an MCL sprain. Steelers OLB Alex Highsmith injured his ankle in Week 10 but appears to have avoided a serious injury. Bills WR Keon Coleman (wrist) has already been ruled out for Week 11.
Positive injury news: Eagles OT Jordan Mailata (hamstring) had his practice window opened and can potentially return from injured reserve for TNF against the Commanders.
Placed on injured reserve and out at least four games ahead of Week 10:
Saints WR Chris Olave (concussion)
Colts C Ryan Kelly (calf)
Vikings K Will Reichard (quad)
Dolphins OT Austin Jackson (knee)
