Schedule release week!

🚨 The full 2025 NFL schedule is out tomorrow at 8:00 PM ET.

šŸˆ Several 2025 NFL games revealed

Some games for the 2025 NFL season are known, and more will be revealed leading up to tomorrow night’s schedule release.

What to watch: Among the other games being released before Wednesday at 8:00 PM ET is Netflix sharing its two Christmas Day games.

🫔 Derek Carr calls it a career

Former Raiders and Saints QB Derek Carr has retired after 11 NFL seasons. The situation between Carr and the Saints has been uncertain for weeks. It turns out the shoulder injury that was set to force the veteran to miss all of the 2025 season involves ā€œsignificant degenerative changes to his rotator cuff.ā€

  • Carr threw for 257 touchdowns and 41,245 passing yards in his career—both ranking 22nd all-time.

  • Carr’s nine seasons with the Raiders helped the franchise become more competitive again, and he went 12-3 while finishing third in the MVP voting in 2016 before a broken leg cut his campaign short.

  • Though he was somewhat oddly a bit of a polarizing player, there’s no doubt Carr had one of the best deep balls in the league while throwing to a bunch of different targets throughout his time in the NFL.

Bottom line: Carr had a heck of a career as a second-round quarterback in 2014, and he was playing some of his best football early last season for a red-hot Saints team before they cooled off and he was injured. New Orleans drafted 25-year-old QB Tyler Shough in the second round this year.

āļø Player news: Cowboys make a splash

After years of Cowboys fans wanting Jerry Jones to make a big move, Dallas pulled off a major upside deal by acquiring WR George Pickens from the Steelers for a 2026 third and a 2027 fifth.

All in? For Dallas, they’ll be thrilled if things work out with the 24-year-old becoming a difference-maker; if not, they can move on and likely get a high compensatory draft pick in 2026—so it’s closer to the ā€œall inā€ stance Cowboys fans have been clamoring for, but with relatively low risk on a one-year pact.

Out for 2025: Browns star LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah (neck) and Panthers RB Jonathon Brooks—as he recovers from his second torn ACL in two years—have been placed on the PUP list and are out for the season.

Bengals DE Trey Hendrickson put out a statement to ESPN voicing his immense displeasure with the team while seeking a new contract.

New Broncos LB Dre Greenlaw (quad) will be a full participant in training camp.

More player news includes the Eagles agreeing to a reworked deal with TE Dallas Goedert, the Panthers releasing DE Jadeveon Clowney, the Jags releasing WR Gabe Davis, and the 49ers waiving DE Drake Jackson with a failed physical designation.

Recent signings include LB Jaylon Smith (Raiders), S Damontae Kazee and S RayShawn Jenkins (Browns), OLs Andre Dillard and Nicholas Petit-Frere (49ers), RB Trey Sermon (Steelers), and LS Joe Cardona (Dolphins).

šŸ“° More NFL news and notes

NFL rookie minicamps are in the books, giving early looks at No. 1 pick Cam Ward, new Browns QBs Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders, and Giants RB Cam Skattebo saying he’s proven nothing in the NFL and is looking to earn it.

Patriots DC Terrell Williams was not at rookie minicamp due to a health issue, but he says his ā€œmind is clearā€ and he’s looking forward to getting back to Foxboro.

The Rams are holding June minicamp in Hawaii, becoming the first team to hold a minicamp in Maui.

Raiders co-owner Tom Brady says he wasn’t part of any evaluation process for quarterbacks in the draft.

Humble Heisman winner and Jaguars rookie WR/CB Travis Hunter made a great impression and earned a new fan during a flight.

ā€œI mean, all the good numbers gone, so.ā€ Bears rookie WR Luther Burden III laughed it off while giving honest reasoning behind his 87 jersey number.

There will no shortage of roster moves made over the next few months, but the schedule is the last major pillar of the offseason before training camp gets underway. With that in mind, below are four win totals we currently like for the over or under as things currently stand.

Falcons OVER 7.5 Wins (-120)
The Falcons will be all about Michael Penix Jr., but we believe fans should be encouraged based on the flashes shown down the stretch last year and his outlook dating back to his days at Washington. Atlanta getting Jalon Walker and James Pearce Jr. to boost the pass rush will help them close games if Penix is a ā€œhitā€ at quarterback.

Lions OVER 10.5 Wins (-110)
Detroit simply couldn’t overcome their defensive injuries last season, but Aidan Hutchinson will be back, and the secondary will have a case for the best in football with everyone healthy. On offense, there shouldn’t be much concern about Ben Johnson leaving based on the firepower and offensive line—not to mention a top quarterback.

Dolphins UNDER 8.5 Wins (-160)
We like what Miami did in the draft by taking Michigan defensive lineman Kenneth Grant at No. 13 overall in an effort to get tougher, and the offensive speed remains unmatched. Still, the roster is very volatile and has tons of questions in the secondary, so the Dolphins could take another step back in the loaded AFC.

Patriots UNDER 8.5 Wins (-120)
Expectations are high in New England, and it’s a similar situation to Atlanta where Drake Maye becoming a star at quarterback would certainly help them hit the over. History has taught us that teams spending big in free agency doesn’t always pan out, though, and a winning record in 2025 could be asking a lot considering the overall state of the roster.
