2025 NFL schedule drop

Good morning. The full 2025 NFL schedule is out. Let’s jump right into Wolf Sports Weekly.

šŸˆ 2025 NFL schedule

We already knew several games ahead of the release—such as a Cowboys-Eagles opener and Broncos-Chiefs on Christmas Night—but the NFL dropped the full 2025 regular season schedule last Wednesday. As usual, the schedule grid put out by the league is a great way to get a quick view of the entire schedule:

The Chiefs lead the way with seven primetime games (i.e., at night—not necessarily standalone), and they also play the Eagles in Week 2 and the Bills in Week 9 for Super Bowl and AFC title game rematches not in primetime. The NFL loves putting Kansas City in the spotlight.

Another note: The Vikings will become the first team to play back-to-back international games in two different countries, facing the Steelers in Ireland and the Browns in London in Weeks 4 and 5.

And if you’re into the schedule release videos teams make, you can view them all here.

There are plenty of great games to look forward to in 2025. This week’s Consigliere Corner shares three of the top matchups to look mark on your calendar. You can read the full list here.

Week 9: Chiefs vs. Bills
There is seemingly much more shuffling than normal in terms of traditional NFC/AFC pairings with FOX/CBS, but CBS no doubt made sure that Chiefs-Bills was going nowhere. Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes are both supremely talented quarterbacks that now play the game in a very similar way—distributing the ball pretty evenly to their weapons and taking over however necessary, when necessary. Buffalo has had success facing Kansas City in the regular season before just a few breaks here and there don’t go their way in the postseason. Chiefs-Bills might determine homefield for a playoff rematch.

Week 13: Bengals vs. Ravens (Thanksgiving Night)
The final two games sort of speak to what a great job the NFL—which has taken over the holidays in terms of sports—did in building the Thanksgiving and Christmas schedules. In the Thanksgiving nightcap, the Ravens host the Bengals in an AFC North battle that should be epic based on Baltimore’s two tight wins in 2024—despite Ja’Marr Chase totally going off in both contests. Cincinnati’s schedule looks relatively light for much of the year, but this also starts a three-game run of Baltimore-Buffalo-Baltimore for them as quite the way to begin the final stretch at Thanksgiving.

Week 17: Broncos vs. Chiefs (Christmas Night)
And the NFL delivered with its Christmas Day slate, starting with Cowboys-Commanders and Lions-Vikings—and ending with Broncos versus Chiefs at Arrowhead. We know Kansas City is Kansas City. Of course, the Broncos will need to build on what they did last season—the additions on defense including linebacker Dre Greenlaw, safety Talanoa Hufanga, and first-round cornerback Jahdae Barron should help, though the offense is relying on young guys stepping up. If they do, the very tough AFC West could have a legitimate challenger to the team that’s won nine consecutive division crowns.

šŸ”’ Key figures locked up

The 49ers signed QB Brock Purdy to a five-year, $265 million contract extension through the 2030 season.

  • 49ers HC Kyle Shanahan and the team have made it clear for years that they love Purdy and that he’s their franchise guy, so this shouldn’t come as a surprise.

  • At $53 million per year, Purdy is tied with Lions QB Jared Goff for seventh among the NFL’s highest-paid players. He gets $181 million guaranteed.

  • Purdy’s deal also includes a full no-trade clause, with both sides not wanting to go anywhere anytime soon.

Bottom line: Purdy went from not even getting a Senior Bowl invite to barely getting drafted as ā€œMr. Irrelevantā€ to totally taking advantage of his opportunity as a rookie and becoming a franchise player.

The Niners didn’t stop there, locking up All-Pro LB Fred Warner on a three-year extension worth $63 million to make him the highest-paid player at his position for the second time in his career.

The Ravens rewarded RB Derrick Henry after his awesome first season in Baltimore, signing the superstar to a two-year, $30 million extension. In case you were wondering, Henry looks to be in decent shape at 31 years old:

Also not going anywhere is Eagles HC Nick Sirianni, who signed a long-term contract extension to remain in Philadelphia after their Super Bowl LIX victory.

šŸ“° More NFL news and notes

Ravens S Ar’Darius Washington tore his Achilles and is set to miss most if not all of 2025. Washington one of the most underrated players in the league and was expected to be in an elite DB group on the backend with Kyle Hamilton and first-rounder Malaki Starks.

Bears QB Caleb Williams and his team were reportedly looking for ways to not get drafted by Chicago last year—but Williams ultimately told his dad he can do it for the Bears and is going there.

Former NFL All-Pro WR Antonio Brown fired shots and was not arrested after fending off would-be robbers at a celebrity boxing event.

Kicker news: The Jets released K Greg Zuerlein, and the 49ers signed K Greg Joseph.

Former Jets GM Joe Douglas is re-joining the Eagles front office.

More notes, including an early fantasy alert:

We’ll have more on the fate of the Brotherly Shove next week, as voting is set to take place today or tomorrow.
