NFL Annual Meeting

Itâs draft month! Letâs jump right into this weekâs newsletter.
âď¸ Big second wave signings
Just as free agency was slowing down, the Giants added their QB by signing veteran Russell Wilson to a one-year deal worth up to $21 million with incentives.
Wilson says he expects to be the teamâs starter this season.
New York clearly didnât want to wait on Aaron Rodgers, who is considering the Steelers, any longer.
The QB room for the Giants now includes Wilson, Jameis Winston, and Tommy DeVito.
The Giants have made it clear they are going to take âbig swingsâ at the gameâs most important position (and many feel theyâve struck out), so this doesnât rule out a move for a QB in the draft.
Speaking of striking out (for Brandon Aiyuk and multiple others), the Patriots finally landed a WR, adding Stefon Diggs on a three-year deal. New England had been hunting for a weapon since last offseason, and Diggsâcoming off a torn ACL from last year with the Texansâis in a spot where he can command the type of targets heâs used to while also facing his former Bills team twice per year.

đ¨ Annual League Meeting
All 32 NFL teams are currently in Palm Beach, Florida for the 2025 Annual League Meeting. The coaches photo captured the leaders of 31 squads, as Falcons HC Raheem Morris was not there for the Day One picture.

What to watch this week:
Eagles HC Nick Sirianni is rallying votes to ensure the Brotherly Shove doesnât get banned. Sirianni says Cardinals HC Jonathan Gannon, Colts HC Shane Steichen, and Saints HC Kellen Moore all have HC jobs because of the play, so that he knows âwe have fourâ votes in favor of keeping the play.
On the other side of the Brotherly Shove argument, a couple of coaches are saying they want to be proactive in preventing injuriesâi.e., the play hasnât lead to more injuries yet, but it could in the future. Weâll see if that reasoning sticks.
If a trade for the No. 1 pick comes together, these in-person meetings could potentially lay the groundwork for a deal. The Titans donât sound opposed to dealing the top pick if someone really wants it.
Sticking with the Titans, in a rare reveal, HC Brian Callahan said their potential selection at No. 1 will come down to four players: QB Shedeur Sanders, QB Cam Ward, WR/CB Travis Hunter, and DE Abdul Carter.
In his talk with reporters, Browns owner Jimmy Haslam says the team took a âbig swing and a missâ on QB Deshaun Watson and that if anyone should be held accountable it should be him and team ownershipâessentially confirming Watson is done in Cleveland.
The NFL will air three Christmas Day games this year (Thursday). Two will be on Netflix before TNF on Prime Video.

đ Recent player news
As the Steelers continue to show patience with Aaron Rodgers, the veteran QB had a throwing session with new WR DK Metcalf over the weekend. Steelers HC Mike Tomlin said at the Annual Meeting that it was good to spend time with Rodgers but he wonât reveal more details.
The Bills are signing CB Christian Benford to a four-year, $76 million extension, continuing an offseason of locking up guys. But Bills GM Brandon Beane says he doesnât see a deal for RB James Cook, who has made it clear he wants a massive contract, coming anytime soon.
49ers HC Kyle Shanahan and GM John Lynch flew to LB Dre Greenlawâs Texas home hoping to convince him to stay during free agency, according to The Denver Post. Greenlaw ultimately decided to sign with Denver, where it felt like the right spot for him.

Early brought up this pic when they were talking through Greenlawâs FA options.

Strengths
Strong and muscular build. No-nonsense runner that gets downhill. Very physical. Runs low with tremendous power and strength. Terrific overall balance. Absorbs low hits and keeps moving. Always keeps his feet moving. Excellent pacing and vision between the tackles. Excellent burst/acceleration through the hole. Will press runs outside and cut behind his blockers. Accelerates to capture the corner when bouncing runs. Uses a shuffle cut while getting skinny through a crease. Very good backside vision to recognize cutback opportunities. Exceptional quickness and instincts to avoid early backfield penetration. Can brush off tackles by interior defensive linemen that get a hand on him. Uses subtle wiggle to avoid reaching defenders. Lowers his shoulder/shoulders to initiate contact. Extremely quick and powerful stiff arm. Will truck defenders in the open field. Can bowl over an opponent with a head of steam. Fights for extra yardage upon contact. Excellent goal-line and short-yardage runner with a nose for the end zone. Will get hit short of the goal line and power into the end zone. Very effective running behind a fullback in heavy personnel. Covers the ball on the second level. Urgent getting out on routes. Effective on simple flare routes. Good speed on wheel routes out of the backfield. Shows soft hands on underneath passes. Catches the ball and immediately gets up the field. Terrific vision and field awareness as a pass-catcher. Outstanding in pass protection. Strong and aggressive taking on blitzers. Often used as a lead blocker in creative rushing scheme and provided physicality. Went off in the CFP National Championship with three total touchdowns (2024).
Weaknesses
A bit stiff in terms of fluidity of movements. Average creativity versus more aggressive tacklers. Inconsistent feel on counter runs. Less effective sensing backfield penetration coming from the edges. Lacks a top gear to run away in space. Hands can be less reliable deeper down the field.
Conclusion
Overall, Judkins is a complete running back with a great blend of physicality, balance, vision, and strength. Considering the effectiveness in pass protection and intelligence as a pass-catcher, Judkins should draw Round 1 consideration.
